Words by (Just Another) Pop Song ...Christian Dam is one of those artists - a bit like Glenn Donaldson - who proceed along their stylistic path with lovable stubbornness, a tangible passion for what they play and a dimension of resolute and adorable craftsmanship.
His The Age of Colored Lizards have since the beginning been devoted body and soul to a sparkling and sizzling guitar pop, with melodies of round immediacy, electrically melancholy, which draws both from the world of C86 and from the American indie of the early 90s, the one with a more lo-fi ancestry.
The ringing of jangly guitars dominates the sound and the rhythms slow down to a bedroom pop dimension of delicate sadness without frills and recorded and produced in purity.
It is basically the true trademark of the band from Oslo, and the main reason why we like them so much...." - Andrea Cornale (just another pop song)

Words by Memoria polaroid...It will not be a coincidence if the new album by the Norwegians The Age Of Colored Lizards is titled Hang On, just like one of Teenage Fanclub's most beautiful songs and therefore, due to its transitive property, one of the most beautiful songs of the entire indie rock. The music of the Norwegian Christian Dam has always been inspired by the thunderous guitars and sweet melodies of the Scottish band, and in this new work the formula reaches a practically perfect equation, without moments of pause, adding the right amount of feedback Dinosaur Jr (Close My Eyes) and indolence Jesus and Mary Chain (It's Not the Way It Used to Be). The voice lost in the reverberations is sometimes tinged with almost dream pop nuances, especially in the more nocturnal ballads (the most enchanting, I Walk Away From You, almost impalpable). With the help of Anders Bøe on bass and Cato Holmen on drums, The Age Of Colored Lizards continue to distil beautiful guitar pop that is saturated with electricity (and maybe even able to kiss you goodnight, as in the lulling I Know You're Around with which the lineup closes), which may perhaps give the impression of being too simple, but within which it is wonderful to get lost again, "hang on" a little longer.

Words by Rosy Overdrive... Oslo’s Christian Dam has been consistently putting out music as The Age of Colored Lizards for a while now–last year saw an EP and LP released under the name, and another Age of Colored Lizards full-length, Hang On, came out last month. Dam (with his band, bassist Anders Bøe and drummer Cato Holmen) makes beautiful guitar pop that reminds me in places of a more rough-around-the-edges Teenage Fanclub. “Walk Away from You” is on the sparse end, carried almost entirely by a jangly electric guitar and Dam’s melancholy voice.

Records I Like ... Hang On sounds like The Jesus and Mary Chain covering the Wedding Present.

Jen Matson... Grungy Norwegian slacker pop

Fabrizio Lusso... Early 90s Neil Young & Crazy Horse

The band with the weird name. Yeah, that pretty much covers it.
